About Meleram
Meleram is a dark medieval-fantasy setting, with Proto-European influences, open to all RPGs set in a world slowly awakening from the torpor of a three-year disaster that proved almost fatal for it. A primordial god called Vorlosh, who was one of its guardians, is at the epicentre of this event which, like a cancer, led to the corruption of the spirits of some of the deities and their celestial planes, as well as the ordinary people who make up the planet’s civilisations.
The loss of trust between members of cults and their deities, the sometimes radical upheaval in the cohesion of societies leading to their irremediable downfall, the appearance of demonic chaos in the world and of entities as horribly assembled as they are unpredictable, celestial instability due to the criminal presence of a plane of existence created by a god lost in his obsessive delusions of grandeur… these are just some of the themes your player-characters will have to face in this role-playing universe.
The player characters will not necessarily be flawless, but as the God-Traitor’s corruption affects up to a third of the global population, they will be forced to survive, help others or exploit unmanageable situations to their advantage. This may push them to question their place in the world, their greed and ambitions, and the choices they have to make in the face of a threat far greater than themselves.
Note also that Vorlosh remains intent on subduing Meleram as a collective slave, subject to the pangs of his madness. The characters may encounter some of the harmful consequences of this.
Will they fight, or will they fall?
It is as much designed for solo play (with specific content) as it is fully usable by a game master.
Suitable for any rules system; The short, world-specific rules and stat blocks are the only role-playing system elements included in the sourcebooks of this series, and they are formatted for any basic D100 and D20/OSR systems.
About Illustrations
The maps are made by me by using WonderDraft, Krita, and Photoshop.
Outside of that, the illustrations for the game and the website come from three sources:
- Myself (I’m not good but yes I draw).
- Public Domain and Creative Commons (images and photos).
- AI platforms (Leonardo.AI, and Invoke.AI in offline).
About Privacy
I do not collect your information except as a byproduct of the software I use (WordPress). I don’t monitor access, although Ie can and do ban spammers via IP address, so I can get that level of information. However, I don’t store data, and don’t sell it to any third parties.
FAQ
System agnostic? Does that mean I have to do all the stats work and there’s nothing about roleplay?
No. This book and all subsequent publications support generic D100 (not specifically BRP or Mythras) and D20/OSR systems by default.
This means that stat blocks, modifiers, and any related information are written for these two sets of rules. Meleram is naturally more suited to a D100 game than a D20 one. However, by limiting the superhero/video game side of D&D, it’s also possible to use some gritty D20 settings, such as Shadowdark or Lamentations of the Flame Princess, for example.
Generic elements complete the stat blocks and are designed to be simple and straightforward to ease any GM/solo player’s conversion work.
Regarding roleplaying, both the full and essential versions of the reference book have an entire chapter dedicated to roleplaying in the world of Meleram.
Of course, there are other systems besides D100 and D20/OSR, but I think the provided game data will suffice.
Wait… Are there going to be multiple Province books? Does that mean I need to buy all of them?
Yes, I plan to make at least six of them.
And no, you don’t need to buy all of them. Any Province book is designed to be self-contained and plug-and-play. Some content could overlap different provinces, but that would be considered more of an option or an expansion than anything else.
Similar to the reference book, each province book will have an essential (free) version to allow anyone to see if the content is interesting.
You’re using AI? For what purpose?
All of the written content in this book, including the maps, are human-created. However, in accordance with DriveThruRPG policy, the book is marked as “Contains AI-Generated Content” since AI was used as the source for about one-third of the secondary illustrations. The rest come from my own drawings and public domain sources.
